Our Instructors

  • Terri Eyer, CCMT

Terri began competing with her miniature schnauzers, Dewey and Fenwick, in Rally, Barn Hunt, Scent Work, and Obedience years ago. Terri and her wife, Sharon Munshour, have been instructing Scent Work for approximately 10 years at Breakaway Action Dogs in Maryland. Terri is both a C-WAGS and AKC Scent Work judge.

Originally from Frederick, Maryland, Terri always planned to move to the Eastern Shore after retiring. She and Sharon now live in Milford, Delaware, enjoying life with their three miniature schnauzers—Fenwick, Bentley, and Ozzie. They have since added Fast CAT to their list of dog sports, with Ozzie holding the #2 Miniature Schnauzer spot in the USA for several years in a row.

Working as a duo, Terri and Sharon love sharing their knowledge and passion for Scent Work, hoping others will discover the special bond that forms when you compete as a team with your dog. “It’s not about getting that qualifying ribbon,” Terri says. “It’s about learning to read your dog and becoming a team—that’s what Scent Work is all about.” Terri has recently added Fetch judge to her list of retirement roles and is also a certified canine sports massage therapist. Sharon is a C-WAGS Scent Work judge as well.

  • Sandy Moody

Sandy Moody began her agility journey in 1999 and hasn’t looked back since. She enjoys every aspect of the sport—competing, training, instructing, and parcitipating in seminars—and is an AKC agility judge. Sandy has been teaching agility classes at all levels for many years.

Sandy competed in agility with her German Shorthaired Pointer, Rosie, earning national recognition as the number one GSP in agility one year and becoming the first GSP to earn MACHs 3 through 7.

She later moved to Poodles and spent several years running Reign, her 12” poodle, who earned MACH 3 before retiring due to injury. Sandy is now running Bragg, her energetic 16” poodle, who recently earned his first MACH.

  • Tammy Sparks

Tammy grew up riding and showing horses and began training and giving lessons in eighth grade, continuing through college. Life eventually pulled her away from horses, but that passion was rekindled when she started agility with her first Vizsla in 2007. That dog was a dream Novice A partner, and by 2009 became the Vizsla Club of America’s #1 Agility Dog. They shared an incredible journey—one she is quick to credit entirely to her dog.

Since then, she has been blessed with three more remarkable Vizslas, each one offering new challenges and lessons. Over the years, her teams have earned 11 MACHs, many trips to Nationals and Invitationals, a spot in finals at AKC Nationals, and titles across several venues.

She has trained with outstanding instructors and is continually working to improve her own skills. Her goals are to provide a positive, fun environment, challenge teams to strive a little higher, and treat each dog-and-handler pair as individuals. She expects students to bring a positive attitude to class, with her top priority always being a happy dog—often meaning negativity is left at the door. She loves teaching and is grateful to Breakaway Action Dogs for the opportunity to work with such great dogs and their humans.

  • Jennieann Mitchell

    Jennieann Mitchell

Jennie Mitchell is an instructor for Breakaway Action Dogs as well as two other clubs. She lives in Parsonsburg, Maryland, and shares her home with Australian Shepherds and a Papillon.

Jennie began her competitive journey traveling and riding horses, participating in barrel racing and rodeos. After moving to Maryland in 1990, she started training dogs in obedience, then moved on to training, showing, and teaching agility. From there, she expanded into Rally, then Canine Freestyle, and seven years ago discovered Scent Work.

With more than 35 years of instructing experience across many dog sport venues, Jennie’s true passion is Scent Work. She is an AKC Scent Work judge as well as a C-WAGS judge for Scent Work and Obedience. She is also an AKC Farm Dog, ATT, and Fetch judge.

Jennie loves sharing her knowledge and expertise with others. Her guiding principle in every venue is simple: hard work, drive, caring, and honesty.
